GRANTS.GOV

Grants.gov was established as a governmental resource named the E-Grants Initiative, part of the President's 2002 Fiscal Year Management Agenda to improve government services to the public.

The concept has its origins in the Federal Financial Assistance Management Improvement Act of 1999, also known as Public Law 106-107.

Today, Grants.gov is a central storehouse for information on over 1,000 grant programs and provides access to approximately $400 billion in annual awards.


ABOUT HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMNET

The City of Green Bay has been receiving CDBG grant since 1973. It is administered by the Neighborhood Division of the City’s Planning Department. The purpose of this program is the creation of viable and healthy urban communities through the provision of decent housing, a suitable living environment and expansion of economic opportunities, principally for persons of low- and moderate- income. Eligible activities include acquisition of real property, removal of blighted housing, public services, direct economic assistance, housing rehabilitation and fair housing initiatives.

OFFICE OF ENERGY INDEPENDENCE

Governor Jim Doyle will propose the next major step forward by creating the Governor’s Office of Energy Independence and dedicating $40 million in his budget proposal for renewable energy like solar, wind, hydrogen, biodiesel and ethanol. Governor Doyle, who will make the announcement in his State of the State address Tuesday, has set a goal for this state to generate 25 percent of its power and transportation fuels from renewable sources by 2025.
